Recruiter

About Change Craft

Change Craft is a growing California-based strategic communications, marketing, and PR agency. We work with government, public health, education, nonprofit, and social impact clients across research, strategy, communications, creative, digital, and operations. We are growing quickly, and so is our hiring.

About the Role

We are looking for a Recruiter to become the day-to-day owner of our recruiting process and a trusted HR partner to company leadership. This is not an administrative recruiting role. We need someone intelligent, highly organized, and experienced at finding and evaluating great people. You will work directly with our President and company leaders to understand what we need, develop recruiting strategies, source candidates, conduct interviews, manage hiring pipelines, and keep searches moving quickly.

We hire across marketing, communications, creative, research, project management, finance, operations, technology, AI, and administrative roles. Some searches are U.S.-based; others are international. The right person will understand that good recruiting requires judgment. We do not just need more applicants. We need someone who can identify which candidates are actually worth our time.

What You’ll Do

Recruiting & Talent Sourcing

  • Manage multiple active searches simultaneously.
  • Develop sourcing strategies based on each position and talent market.
  • Source candidates through OnlineJobs.ph, LinkedIn, Upwork, job boards, direct outreach, and other channels.
  • Proactively identify strong passive candidates rather than relying exclusively on applicants.
  • Review resumes, portfolios, profiles, applications, and work samples.
  • Build and maintain strong candidate pipelines.

Screening & Interviewing

  • Conduct initial candidate interviews independently.
  • Evaluate experience, communication, judgment, professionalism, and overall fit.
  • Prepare concise candidate assessments and recommendations for leadership.
  • Coordinate interview activities, assessments, references, and subsequent interview rounds.
  • Identify inconsistencies or potential concerns before candidates advance.
  • Help improve interview questions and evaluation criteria for different positions.

Hiring Operations

  • Maintain accurate recruiting pipelines, candidate records, interview notes, and hiring status.
  • Coordinate interviews across different time zones.
  • Follow up quickly with candidates and internal hiring managers.
  • Keep hiring processes moving without requiring constant oversight.
  • Maintain job postings and recruiting accounts.
  • Track recruiting metrics, hiring progress, and open positions.

HR Partnership

  • Work with leadership to clarify job requirements before searches begin.
  • Help develop and refine job descriptions.
  • Research compensation, titles, qualifications, and talent-market conditions.
  • Recommend improvements to Change Craft’s recruiting and hiring processes.
  • Support onboarding and other talent/HR initiatives as the role grows.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, or HR with significant recruiting responsibility.
  • Experience personally sourcing, screening, interviewing, and evaluating candidates.
  • Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal; near-native/native-level professional fluency is essential.
  • Strong interviewing and candidate-assessment skills.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to distinguish an impressive interview from genuine capability.
  • Extremely organized and able to manage multiple searches simultaneously.
  • Strong follow-through and responsiveness.
  • Comfortable working directly with executives and senior leaders.
  • Experience with LinkedIn and online recruiting/job platforms.
  • Comfortable learning new recruiting technology and AI-enabled hiring tools.
  • Able to work independently and make recommendations rather than waiting for instructions.

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience recruiting for a U.S.-based company.
  • Experience recruiting for marketing, advertising, PR, consulting, creative, or professional-services organizations.
  • Experience recruiting both U.S. and international talent.
  • Experience with ATS/recruiting platforms.
  • Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, OnlineJobs.ph, Upwork, Indeed, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting broader HR or People Operations functions.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted sourcing, screening, and recruiting workflows.

Who We’re Looking For

You are probably a strong fit if you are the person who can take:

“We need a great project manager who actually understands how an advertising agency works.”

…and turn that into a recruiting strategy without needing someone to tell you every search term, platform, screening question, or next step.

You ask good questions, understand people, notice details, communicate extremely well, and know how to keep a hiring process moving. Most importantly, you understand that your job is not to fill interview slots. Your job is to help us make great hires.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first few months, we should be able to hand you a hiring need and trust you to drive most of the process: clarify the profile, launch the search, source talent, screen applicants, interview candidates, recommend finalists, and keep everyone organized through the hiring decision. As you become familiar with Change Craft, we expect this role to become an increasingly important HR and talent partner to leadership.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week. Because you will regularly interview candidates and work directly with U.S.-based leadership, significant overlap with California business hours will be required.

Compensation

Competitive monthly salary based on recruiting experience, English communication skills, and demonstrated ability. This is intended to be a long-term role with opportunity for increased responsibility as Change Craft grows.
